We have a problem.
Our health system is facing an unsustainable burden of chronic
disease. If we continue to do what we are doing then in a few short
years our health costs will exceed the entire NSW budget. We want to
hear from clinicians and consumers who are passionate about transforming
health care and who want to make a difference.
If you share our vision of “Healthy people – now and into the future", then we want your help.
We invite you to join with us to examine our local health system and
look for solutions to these seemingly intractable problems. Our
Alliance team has crunched the population health data for the Hunter and
identified the top three problems that are burdening our local health
system.
These are:
- Diabetes
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
- Care in the last twelve months of life
These are problems that can’t be fixed by a single organisation or
individual, the solutions to these problems will require new thinking
and new ideas. Of course we must remember that each new idea will
require resources to develop and implement it, and resources are
limited. What we spend on one thing is not available to be spent on
another.

On the night of the 21st of February 2014, the Hunter Alliance held it's first forum to discuss these priorities.
